Window Series
What started off as a joke with a friend about me constantly taking pictures from the passenger seat turned into what I now call my "Window Series." It was more a light-hearted snide remark, but had some serious truth behind it.
From then on, I kept thinking to myself - I travel so much! And so much of my time travelling is actually spent sitting in a seat, en route to the destination. Especially when I'm on a roadtrip, it seems that I spend debatably more time driving than actually being in the places on the itinerary...
But that doesn't make it bad. It's about the journey after all, and I started to relate this "taking photos out the window" to such important snippets in time (that most often get overlooked). In reality, these moments are equally as important. Listening to music with the windows down, feeling free as ever down some old backroads, or listening to a podcast and digging in deep to rediscover myself time and time again. Or maybe its the simpler moments when I'm being still, observing Nature's beauty, gripping the steering wheel to pull myself a little closer to the front windshield to get the best view of towering mountains around me.
These are some of the moments that mean the most to me. Small, fleeting times that end up telling the real story. Sure, the end destination is always cool too, but these smaller moments reveal more about our characters than any hero-shot ever could.
