It's no secret that Utah has been in a drought for 8 of the last 10 years. My friends and I booked this trip over a year ago, and though we heard many rumblings of extremely low water, we still pressed on. With our trucks loaded up with jet skis and coolers, we made the 1,500 mile drive cross-country from Wisconsin to Utah. And man, is it always worth it!
Our trip consisted of five days on the water, nine close friends, and a billion stars shining above us as we fell asleep. We explored slot canyons by jetski, hiked into canyons which were previously under water, and cliff-jumped from whatever safe rock places we could find. The weather was over 100 degrees each day, but that only meant more time spent swimming in Powell's bath water.
This trip and this place always holds such a special place in my heart. They say there's magic in those canyons - I would agree, but I'd say you should just go experience it for yourself. Something about waking up to glowing red rocks and calm canyon waters just can't fully be described.
