Are you even from Wisconsin if you don’t hunt opening morning?! Like many Wisconsinites, opening gun season is a family tradition. Families load up their warmest blaze-orange gear and head to the Northwoods. Likewise, my family and I always did the same.
Opening morning proved to be successful! Eight of us in stands and three with critters down: my sister with a coyote, my uncle with a nice eight-pointer and my dad with a monster fourteen. And then the work starts! Especially with my dad’s buck, which ran down into a bowl. Getting that big guy out took a team effort for sure. Opening weekends are always a favorite tradition, but they’re really that much sweeter with a full load!
